One of my most-used tools is Telestream's ScreenFlow. I use it for everything from the occasional Macworld Videos that I create to recording small 'how to' movies for use both here and on the Macworld site. I've even used it to record how-to videos for family - it's often quicker to do that than it would be to create a complex email explaining the steps.

One thing that bothered me about ScreenFlow, though, was that its icon appeared in the Dock whenever I recorded a movie. (Its helper app icon also appeared in the menu bar, but that didn't bother me as much.) Today, after finally reading the help files (yea, I know, RTFM!), I discovered that it's trivial to hide both icons, if desired. For others who haven't read help, here's the simple fix...
