Use a ‘jump to time’ shortcut in QuickTime Player
News| No Comments »I just read the handy QuickTime Player ‘JKL’ hint (fast rewind, stop, fast forward), and thought I’d run through the keys to see what else might be there.
I found another shortcut that doesn’t seem to be documented anywhere: Tab will move you through the hour, minutes, and seconds fields, allowing you to jump directly to any time in the movie.
[robg adds: If you have 'All controls' set in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel of the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences panel, you'll also tab through the playhead controls, as well as the individual controls at the bottom of the interface. If you have this feature set to 'Text boxes and lists only,' then Tab will just highlight the time fields, followed by the playback position cursor. I've only tested this in the Pro version of QuickTime, but I assume it works with the free version as well.]

Urdu and Perian can also see their extended characters for ‘v’ — press and hold (ف) and, for ‘ch’, press and hold (ج), etc.
Fix external references to iPhoto images after data move

This hint is for iPhoto 6 and higher.
To update your Library with the new location of your files, you need to go into the Package Contents of you iPhoto Library (Control-click on iPhoto and pick Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu]). Once the new folder opens, navigate into the Originals directory. There you will have a directory for each year of which you have photos.
If you have externally-referenced images, then the images inside of the Originals directory structure will be symbolic links to original files. Update these directories with symbolic links that point to the new location of your files. For instance, for my 2008 library, I renamed the 2008 directory in Originals to 2008_, then made a symbo…
